Writer's Guidelines
*We Welcome Your Submissions*
Inspiration is a source that affects us on every level of our lives; our mind, body, spirit, and earth. It is a feeling, an intuitive thought, a joyful purpose-filled energy. It is responsible for all creativity, inventions, and abundance in our lives. Without it, we are destined to a life of drudgery. Inspiration is the water that nurtures the world and allows it to bloom at its fullest potential.
Martha's Vineyard is a haven for inspiration. She has always been a magnet drawing people to her. She inspires us to write our novels, paint our pictures, heal our bodies, connect with our spirits, and raise our families. We live in one of the best places on earth to tap into this powerful source.
Our mission at Island Inspiration Magazine is to spread the word that inspiration is not something we must wait to find us, but rather something we can seek out. Island Inspiration Magazine shares messages of hope and ideals, providing inspiration and education, planting seeds of thought, thus guiding us to live our best lives ever!
ii Magazine, provides a platform from which you can reach an audience you may not have reached. Our greatest resource in life, especially here on the Island, resides in each other, that is why Island Inspiration Magazine is based largely on reader-submitted content. Find your inner voice and let it inspire others.
A new issue will accompany each new season. We have future plans to bring ii Magazine to you in eco-friendly print form as well. We accept inspirational articles, poems, stories, dreams, photos, quotes, and queries. If you have an idea for an article that you think will fit nicely into one of our departments, send it along. We will even help you develop/edit it.
* Length *
Article submissions should be less than 800 words with a 40 word or less bio of yourself at the end of the article outlining your certifications, your services, with all your contact info including a link to your web site if applicable, or simply just a little bit about you. We also love to post photos of our contributors with their bios, so please include a head shot of yourself as an attachment to your email, if you would like. We prefer if you copy and paste your article into the body of an email. *(If you are a business owner and are interested in advertising be sure to check out the ad rates page).
*Your Article Topic*
It could possess any aspect of your field you choose that would be appropriate for one of our departments or as a special feature. Just write what you know, and speak from your personal experience. Your inner voice sets the tone for an interesting and successful article. Writing your article in the first person helps draw the reader in and sets the intimate feel we are aiming to express in ii magazine. Although your article shouldn't be an advertisement for your business, specifically, it will give you an opportunity to inform and touch a countless number of readers.
*Article Payment*
Although we are not in a position of yet to pay contributors for their articles, being published and reaching an audience you otherwise may not have reached, is considered payment. There is of course, the "Good Karma" payment that goes along with inspiring others :)).
*Publication of your article*
We may ask for a revision and will work together with you to produce a successful article. We reserve the right to make final edits or to decline an article or idea for submission. Submitting a work does not guarantee its publication.
*Rights*
Island Inspiration Magazine reserves the right to use the article on our web site indefinitely. If accepted for publication your article will be posted in the magazine during the current issue and indefinitely in the article archives of past issues. If you choose to reprint your work in another publication after it has been posted/published in Island Inspiration Magazine, please state; "First printed in Island Inspiration Magazine (date) with our web address www.islandinspirationmag.com . Submitting a work to Island Inspiration Magazine we assume that you have read and agree with our writer's guidelines.
